The BLANKO are a Finnish alternative rock band formed in 2006. The group consists of Pauli Hauta-aho (lead vocal and guitar), Jakke Saarinen (drums) and Jykke Tikka (bass). They are an energetic live act blessed with an intensive charisma and stage presence. Their style of music varies all the way from the melancholic, Jeff Buckley –like vocal renditions to the kick ass, Rage Against The Machine –like riffs delivered with the Nirvana –like attitude.
The BLANKO released a self-titled EP in 2007 and started playing gigs after gigs, which gave them a good deal of experience and respect among the Finnish live act –scene, as well as the reporters and the music executives, who voted the band twice to the “Twelve most promising bands” –Poll at YLE (National Broadcasting Company of Finland). Since that they have released two studio albums; Flying Colours (Ratas Music Group 2011), Into The Silence (Sony Music Finland 2013) and the singles You & I, Feel and Face the Fear also gained a good amount of airplay on the radios. Their next album is to be released next March.
The BLANKO got also a great reception from playing some shows in Europe as well as Japan, in which they performed at the Metal & Loud –event in Tokyo. After hundreds of shows, collaborating with various of groups including Apocalyptica, Danko Jones, 3 Doors Down, Skindred and Wolfmother, The BLANKO are standing strong and ready with the new music ready to be released. They are striving towards the goals like having a worldwide release, playing their hearts out in front of thousands of people and getting their very own ‘power of three’– symbol known all around the universe.
In 45 Special The Blanko will be supported by a local rock band Afterego.
